MuSa in maschera 2026
On Wednesday, February 11, at 6 pm, the MuSa in maschera concert will be held in the Rectorate building's Aula Magna. As every year, MuSa is offering the university and city communities a concert to celebrate Carnival. The concert will showcase the musical talents of the project participants alongside tthe fun and irony of performing in costume. This year's concert will feature MuSa Classica Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Demetrio Moricca, and MuSa Polyphonic Choir, conducted by Maestro Ludovico Versino. Together, they will take the audience on a journey through centuries and continents with a vibrant mix of rhythms, songs and dances to celebrate Carnival.
In the first part, MuSa Classica travels from the Renaissance liveliness of Respighi's Bergamasca to the Latin seduction of Márquez's Danzón No. 2, passing through the urban adrenaline of Bernstein's West Side Story.
In the second half of the concert, the MuSa Polyphonic Choir will take us on a journey through a diverse range of choral repertoire, spanning different eras, origins and genres. The programme will feature Italian folk-inspired pieces, irregular Macedonian rhythms, songs of peace from the Andes, cheerful French Renaissance pieces, American vocal pop and playful mashups of Czech and Finnish music.
This crescendo of energy, coupled with the variety of styles and genres, sets the stage for the grand finale, which features the choir and orchestra performing together in Rossini's Carnevale di Venezia.
Admission is free while seats last.
