The Barber of Seville comes to Sapienza
As part of the Opera Camion Giubileo 2025 project, Sapienza's Main Campus will be hosting a production of Il barbiere di Siviglia by Gioachino Rossini, presented by Teatro dell'Opera di Roma
On Tuesday, June 10, at 8 p.m., the open space in front of the Main Campus's Ciao/Hello will be hosting Il barbiere di Siviglia by Gioachino Rossini, in a production by Teatro dell'Opera di Roma as part of the Opera Camion Giubileo 2025 project.
The performance, which is free of charge, starts at 7 p.m. and offers an enthralling, itinerant version of Rossini's opera. It is brought to the stage by a real stage on wheels: a truck that opens like a curtain to transform itself into a mobile theatre with a live orchestra and complete stage set. Manu Lalli directs the production, which features a circus setting, while Carlo Donadio is in charge of the musical direction.
This is a unique opportunity to experience opera in a new, participatory way — a moment of encounter between culture, the city of Rome, and the university community, made possible thanks to the Teatro dell'Opera's superintendent Francesco Giambrone.
