BIP Civis in Rome: Co-Creating Urban Futures
Friday, November 24, was the last day of the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on Co-Creating Urban Futures, promoted by CIVIS - Europe's Civic University Alliance in Rome.
From November 20, the on-site workshop involved 50 university students from different European countries, supervised by lecturers from the Universities of Brussels, Tübingen, Bucharest and Glasgow, and led by the LabSU team from the Department of Civil, Building and Environmental Engineering of Sapienza University. The participants got to know some paradigmatic contexts of the Roman suburbs, crossed by conflicts and challenges, but also by innovative energies and projects promoted by local social networks.
Divided into three groups, the students analysed the following neighbourhoods: Quarticciolo, Spin Time and the Corona verde of East Rome (specifically the Lago Bullicante ExSnia, Parco della Mistica and Comitato pratone di Torre Spaccata). For each case, the students analysed processes, scenarios and possible solutions, both in terms of planning and relationship between local networks and institutions.
