Boat Race 2025, an amateur regatta between university student crews
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Rome will be hosting the third edition of the Boat Race, an amateur university regatta involving student crews from six Italian universities, organised by the University of Rome Foro Italico, in collaboration with the Foro Italico University Foundation. Among these is the Sapienza team, which will compete with teams from the University of Rome Foro Italico, the University of Rome Tor Vergata, LUISS Guido Carli, the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome and the Politecnico di Torino.
The regatta will take place on the stretch of the River Tiber between Ponte della Musica and Ponte Milvio, in a particularly picturesque natural setting bathed in afternoon light, offering a spectacular atmosphere for athletes and spectators alike.
The event will be divided into two stages:
- the first stage is a single race of approximately 500 metres, starting from Ponte della Musica and finishing at the Foro Italico University Rowing Centre;
- the second stage is a double race of approximately 500 metres each, with reverse currents.
The Boat Race is an opportunity for students, lecturers and citizens to meet and share experiences, combining the educational value of sport with collective participation and promotion of the local area. It will be the closing event of UniForoItalico Christmas Day, a day dedicated to promoting physical activity and sport.
