Fabrizio D'Ascenzo, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, has been awarded a Doctorate Honoris causa by the Bucharest  University of Economic Studies for his research activities in the field of technological innovation in production economics.

The Academy of Higher-level Commercial and Industrial Studies was founded on April 6, 1913, by royal decree of Carol I of Romania. Since the 1967-1968 academic year, the Institute has been reorganised and has become the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.
