With the Charter of Assisi, universities promote information for peace

Universities at the forefront of peace. The Charter of Assisi is the new agreement aimed at combating the spread of hateful content and ensuring peaceful journalism

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Charter of Assisi will be presented and signed, a formal commitment between Italian and international universities on the theme of education and the culture of peace.
The Charter does not represent a point of arrival, but a commitment, signed and shared. In the document, the universities pledge to educate for peace, practise peace and build peaceful relations through actions such as the establishment of degree programmes, chairs or courses on peace issues, the creation of working groups to evaluate agreements between and with universities in conflict contexts, the establishment of peace study centres, the development of international networks on peace issues, or any other action with the same general aims.
The contents of the Charter will be discussed and commented on on Thursday, February 26 at the round table entitled “Università, ponti di pace”.
