European archaeology will be coming to Rome and Sapienza in 2024

Rome will organise the 30th Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) in 2024, as announced at the association's Membership Business Meeting on September 10, 2021. It is the first time in Rome and the third in Italy (after Ravenna 1997 and Riva del Garda 2009)

The EAA is the largest membership organisation of archaeologists in Europe, founded in 1994 to bring together the whole continent with its shared and intertwined history.

It currently has about 3000 members from Europe and around the world, representing all different types of archaeologists, from professionals to academics to heritage experts, and many more, working on all kinds of contexts, chronologies and themes.

Sapienza has promoted and will be at the heart of the event, which involves and has received the support of the National Research Council - Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences (CNR-Ispc) and colleagues or departments of all the state universities in Rome and Lazio: University of Roma Tor Vergata, University of Roma Tre, University of Tuscia in Viterbo and University of Cassino and Southern Lazio.
