
Experience the European Alliance with Global CIVIS Days 2021
The Global CIVIS Days 2021 took place on November 24, 25 and 26, with online meetings and events open to everyone. An opportunity to experience the Alliance and learn about current activities and future projects
The CIVIS Alliance-European Civic University met on November 24, 25 and 26 for the annual Global CIVIS Days 2021; the perfect opportunity to debate and analyse issues related to major societal challenges, bringing together students and university staff from the 9 CIVIS universities, civil society and innovators, policymakers and local representatives from across Europe.
The programme included a conference on Thursday, November 25, at 6 pm, livestreamed from the Campus of the Université Libre de Belgique - ULB, entitled "Building the European University of Tomorrow"; participants included Paul Magnette, mayor of Charleroi, president of the Belgian Socialist Party and professor of Political Sciences; Amaya Mendikoetxea, Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Anton Muscatelli, Rector of the University of Glasgow, Lucas Portugaels and Julia Chiloeches Torrecuadrada, members of the CIVIS Student Council.
On Friday, November 26, a morning session presenting the CIVIS Open Labs, dedicated to the theme "Social solutions where the university meets the city", took place; projects illustrating innovative solutions in the field of community building, quality of life for the senior citizens, circularity, sustainable mobility, urban resilience and development were presented.
The two-day event also hosted the CIVIS Creathon 2021 on "University in the city" and the CIVIS Photo Contest with pictures taken by students, academics and staff belonging to the Alliance.
