The first national PhD in Peace Studies in Italy is at Sapienza
Today, the annual meeting of the Network of Italian Universities for Peace (RUniPace) took place at Sapienza University. The Rectors of most Italian universities attended the event. During the meeting, a message was delivered by the UN Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, Alice Nderitu.
The meeting was opened by Rector Antonella Polimeni, and the two network coordinators Enza Pellecchia and Marco Mascia, from the Universities of Pisa and Padua respectively, also spoke.
The PhD of National Interest in Peace Studies, the first of its kind in Italy, was set up thanks to RUniPace, the Network of Italian Universities for Peace (CRUI Network), and has awarded 40 scholarships.
The 36 universities participating in the project, coordinated by Sapienza, aim to implement interdisciplinary and transversal higher education and research courses in the fields of peace, human rights, conflict and peace studies, disarmament and the building of inclusive and sustainable societies, also through projects already launched at international level.
