Noi ci siamo: initiative against all forms of discrimination and gender-based violence

The Gender Equality Commission of the Physics Department invites all lecturers to give a tangible sign of their awareness and commitment to building a culture of respect and non-prejudice by joining the NOI CI SIAMO initiative: a writing on the blackboard at the beginning of the class to discuss the reasons for this action

Every year, November 25 marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, established by the United Nations General Assembly on December 17,  1999. Just before this year's commemoration, another tragic feminicide (gender-motivated killing of a woman) took place, that of the young student Giulia Cecchettin. The context and motives behind this umpteenth episode of extreme violence have particularly affected our academic community.

The march that took place on Friday, November 24 in front of the Marconi Building of the Department of Physics was very well attended. Following this event, the Gender Equality Commission of the Physics Department invites all lecturers to give a tangible sign of their awareness and commitment to building a culture of respect and non-prejudice. NOI CI SIAMO (WE ARE HERE). WE ARE AGAINST all forms of discrimination and violence against women.

The Faculty of Mathematics, Physical and Natural Sciences invites lecturers of all courses who wish to support this initiative to write "NOI CI SIAMO" on their blackboards at the beginning of their classes and to spend a few minutes discussing with their students the motivations and convictions behind this gesture.
