Preventing Suicide, Awarded Professor Maurizio Pompili

Maurizio Pompili, full time professor of psychiatry at the Department of Neuroscience, Mental health and Sense organs, was recognized as the world's leading suicide expert, according to the Expertscape rating agency.

More than 800,000 people die every year in the world from suicide. La Sapienza, on the initiative of Maurizio Pompili, organizes an annual meeting, on the occasion of the World Day for the Prevention of Suicide (September 10th), which brings together academics and doctors working on this topic, to share the most recent scientific acquisitions and good practices in the mental health for suicide prevention.

The Expertscape agency has a database recalling the leading international experts that gathers doctors from all over the world, classifying them on the basis of a score obtained through publications in the most prestigious scientific journals.
