On behalf of herself and the entire University community, Rector Antonella Polimeni expresses her deep sorrow at the sudden death of Professor Franco Chimenti at the age of 85. 

Chimenti was a long-standing Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Sapienza, where he later became Dean. A former member of the New York Academy of Sciences, he was President of the Istituto di Ricerca dermocosmetica from 1970 to 2000. Academician of Medical Biological Sciences, Academician of the Nobile collegio chimico farmaceutico and author of numerous manuscripts and communications published in international journals.
