Rector, Antonella Polimeni, on her own behalf and on behalf of the entire Sapienza community, expresses her condolences on the sudden and untimely death of Roberto Valle, Professor of History of Eastern Europe at the Faculty of Political Science, Sociology, and Communication Science.

An expert in the modern and contemporary history of Russian philosophy, Valle was a great connoisseur of the Slavic world and in particular of Russian culture, whose beliefs he interpreted with the scientific rigour of a scholar. Appreciated and loved by his colleagues and students, he was a lecturer capable of unprecedented and rigorous analyses that contributed enormously to the progress of our scientific community. During his thirty years of activity, Valle published more than one hundred articles and historical essays.
