On October 9, Times Higher Education published the 2026 edition of its World University Rankings. Sapienza ranks 170th worldwide and remains in third place among Italian universities. 
Gaining 15 positions in one year, Sapienza confirms its upward trend and achieves its best ever result in this ranking.
Sapienza has improved its performance in three of the five areas considered by the ranking: teaching, research environment and international outlook.
Excellent results were recorded in the indicators that assess influence, excellence, research productivity, the quality of doctoral programmes, a university's ability to support industry with innovations and inventions, and the number of patents.
