From October 4 to 10 is World Space Week. All over the world, events and educational programmes will be celebrating accomplishments and contributions to the space sector and sciences. Osimo, in the Marche region, will be hosting the Italian edition of this very special event; Sapienza School of Aerospace Engineering will open up its research achievements to the community through different kinds of dissemination activities.

The event, coordinated by the United Nations, was established in 1999. It starts each year on October 4, when Sputnik I, the first earth satellite built by a human being, was launched into space in 1957. The last day, October 10, refers to the International Outer Space Treaty, which came into force on October 10, 1967.

During these seven days, more than 9,000 events will be organised globally, recalling how science and technology have improved the human condition thanks to the knowledge of space. In 2019, the Week's theme was 'The Moon: Gateway to the Stars'; in 2020, it was 'Satellites Improve Life'. In 2021, World Space Week will be celebrating 'Women in Space'.
