Gabriele Cerutti, PhD in Biochemistry at Sapienza in 2019 is part of the research team of Columbia University that carried out the study. The research was published on the prestigious Nature Journal. By using the revolutionary electronic cryo-microscopy technique, the research team identified the area where the spike protein of SARSCoV2 and antibodies bind, helping to develop a cocktail of neutralizing antibodies. His studies in biochemistry and structural biology at Sapienza and his international experience with the Prometeus RISE-MSCA project, allowed the young and brilliant Italian researcher to follow a path of excellence. In a few months, he contributed to a fundamental study for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cerutti, a graduate in Chemistry of Biological Systems, obtained his doctorate in Biochemistry at Sapienza in 2019 and was awarded by the Italian Crystallographic Association for the best doctoral thesis; in his research activity, he deals with structural biology.
