Urania's passion at Sapienza to shine a spotlight on Steam disciplines
The sculpture Urania's Passion by Lorenzo Quinn was unveiled, symbolising the Investing for the Future. Women and STEM: From Gap to Plus project, promoted by MSD Italia. The project aims to inspire new generations to follow their passions and break down the cultural and social barriers that still prevent women from entering the world of science.
In Italy, it is precisely the youngest (two out of three) who underestimate the gender gap in technical and scientific subjects. While they highlight gender prejudices and the lack of female role models, they also acknowledge the power of art and the positive impact that art can have on science in line with the the so-called STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) approach.
