
WSense top innovator in Davos for pioneering the Internet of Underwater Things
The Sapienza start-up WSense won the Ocean Data Challenge, an award promoted by the World Economic Forum in Davos to highlight the most innovative companies working in data collection and management for ocean protection.
Wsense was awarded for its cutting-edge technology that takes the Internet deep into the water to collect big data, a key element in the global fight against climate change.
Selected as the only Italian company by the WEF, Wsense, initially born as a Sapienza spin-off, is thus establishing itself as a global excellence in the frontier of the Internet of Underwater Things (IoUT).
Founded in 2017, Wsense, already the winner of the European Commission's Blueinvest Award prize for innovation in the Blue Economy, now has a team of over 40 PhDs, engineers and researchers with offices in Italy, Norway, and the UK and collaborates with, among others, Xylem, Saipem, ENI Leroy, Terna, ENEA, Ingv, National Oceanography Centre.
