Language, texts and documents, in all their aspects (linguistic, philological, material, etc.), are the common ground of this PhD Program. This includes curricula covering library, archival and documentation studies, philosophy of language, general linguistics and language education, Russian linguistics and culture, historical and philological literary studies, gender studies, and geography. The Program aims at providing PhD students with in-depth and up-to-date knowledge on major issues related to language and documents (traditionally written, as well as audiovisual and digital), and to cultural heritage material and immaterial. The Program characterizes for its interdisciplinary nature, its attention for innovative areas of research in the different related fields, and its consideration for internationalization. It is widely recognized as a leading PhD Program in its disciplinary fields, and is involved in international cooperation, as shown by the provenance of PhD students. Applications come every year from Italian and international universities, as well as from public servants who are active in related service fields. The PhD Program consists of five curricula: 1) Library, Archive and Documentation Studies; 2) Theory of Language and Linguistic Education; 3) Russian Linguistics and Culture; 4) Studies in Literature, History and Gender; 5) Geography.
