MAECI has published the Italy-Republic of Korea 2026-2028 call for proposals for the financing of joint projects - aimed at renewing the Executive Protocol for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Italy and South Korea for the three-year period 2026-2028 - in the following areas:

• Environmental sciences and energy transition;
• Physics and Quantum Science;
• Advanced Materials and Nanotechnologies;
• S&T applied to cultural heritage;
• Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Biotechnology.

The project proposal must be drawn up jointly by the Italian and South Korean scientific managers and submitted to the respective ministries.

The Italian PI must submit the application exclusively through the MAECI portal by Monday, August 4, 2025 at 17:00 (CET).

The PI may submit only one project proposal and must also upload on the MAECI portal the Letter of Endorsement (on the Download section) duly signed by the legal representative (Rector).

Funding

The maximum funding per project (on the Italian side) is € 30,000.00 per year, including compulsory co-funding of at least 50% of the total budget by the Italian P.I. institution (co-funding may include the cost of Sapienza's staff formally employed in the project - person-hours).

Sapienza Procedure

In order to obtain the signature of the Letter of Endorsement in due time by the Rector, the PI must send the following documentation to the Scientific Cooperation and Networks Unit (cooperazionepvs@uniroma1.it) no later than July 28, 2025 at 11.59 AM:

1. copy of the project including budget;
2. letter of indemnity from the Department Director, countersigned by the Chief departmental administrative officer (RAD), confirming the Department's willingness to cover the co-funding costs and all other charges deriving from the possible funding (the facsimile is available in the attachments section of this page)
3. Letter of endorsement (to be signed by the Rector).
