Research Centres

As established from the Statute and the Administration, Finance and Accounting Regulation, Sapienza Research Centres have their own Regulation and Statute, that define their activities, duration and goals. Statute’s article 8 states that “Sapienza is allowed to create Research and Service Centres, with the Rector administrative order, and approval of the Accademic Senate and The Management Board (…) the research and service centre organization and the statute are chosen on a basis of the submissions from the involved structures, once established, and the concerning University”.

Administration, Finance and Accounting Regulation’s article 2 considers them autonomous Cost Centres, equal to the university, faculties and departments. According to the regulation, professors from different departments can join and contribute to these structures’ activity like the implementation of scientific projects and programmes with cross-disciplinary approach, in order to improve  the overall university didactics and research performance by sharing knowledge and equipements.

Being constantly monitored by the Central Administration (Peripheral structure activation Area), their renewal depends on a six year activity evaluation, and the expressed approval from Sapienza Government Bodies.

With the RD 341/2008 was issued a Statute for the institution of Sapienza Research Centres and with the following RD n° 438 (Sept/04/2009), were issued their guidelines.
