Sapienza's approach is based on constant monitoring, which is shared and governed at an institutional level. Sapienza's research governance plays an active role in collecting, interpreting and using data to ensure that strategic decisions are informed by solid evidence.

To provide a clear, systematic and integrated overview of scientific activities, Sapienza publishes an annual report on research results and data.

The document presents a summary of the main initiatives and performances of the last twelve months, divided into the following areas: 

• an overview of research funding, both in terms of resources made available by Sapienza and those provided by public bodies and private entities, at national and international level;
• a summary of activities supporting research training, with particular attention to doctoral students and researchers; 
• A description of the research evaluation process.
• An overview of activities aimed at promoting the internationalisation of research, such as the visiting professor call for applications, the SAPIExcellence programme and the Horizon Europe Project Coordination and Horizon Europe Award calls for applications. An overview of Sapienza's international cooperation initiatives and activities.
• An overview of contractual activities carried out by Sapienza's spending centres with public and private entities.

Annual report on research activity, technology transfer and funding obtained

The Annual Monitoring Report, which is also prepared in accordance with Law 1/2009, forms part of a cycle of continuous self-assessment and improvement. This is in line with quality assurance principles and responds to transparency and accountability requirements that characterise public administrations.
