PON Research and Innovation – 2014 – 2020

The National Operational Program "Research and Innovation" 2014-2020 (PONRI) is the tool through which Italy contributes to implementing the European Union's cohesion policy, targeting its most disadvantaged territorial areas.

The PON Research and Innovation program also aims to foster collaboration between businesses and other entities (universities, research institutions, etc.) to achieve mutual benefits in terms of information, production, commerce, and product development, with potentially significant results. Additionally, the program seeks to develop new professional skills demanded by the labor market by implementing initiatives focused on human capital, thereby preparing a workforce with appropriate qualifications.

Another innovative aspect of the program is its significant focus on improving the efficiency and quality of spending through the introduction of simplified and transparent procedures, ensuring a faster and administratively correct process.

Ministerial Decree MUR No. 1061/2021 allocated resources from the PON "Research and Innovation" 2014-2020 for Action IV.4 "Doctorates and Research Contracts on Innovation Topics" and Action IV.5 "Doctorates on Green Topics." These resources are directed to entities with active and accredited doctoral programs under the 37th cycle and national doctoral programs.
