For CIVIS Participants only
According to the main principles of the European Charter of Researchers and other European Research Policies relevant to European Research Area, Sapienza Università di Roma is launching a training program to increase soft skills aimed at valorising the training path of early stage researchers, with a focus on future non-academic career. The training offer enriches the curriculum of early stage researchers and promotes greater autonomy and awareness of the tools to support their career, thus enhancing the human capital employed in research activities.
The 2023 edition, developed as part of the actions included in Sapienza HRS4R (Human Resources Strategy For Researchers), represents an occasion for interdisciplinarity and contamination among early stages researchers from any scientific area.
In the context of the RIS4CIVIS project, 6 courses will be held in English and will be open to early stage researchers from other RIS4CIVIS institutions in order to foster Sapienza's contribution for structuring the Alliance and to create concrete opportunities for knowledge exchange, networking and virtual mobility among RIS4CIVIS Partners.
The offer will be also addressed to all participants of the ROME TECHNOPOLE project, Lazio regional innovation ecosystem, multi-technological hub for teaching, research and technology transfer in the sectors of energy transition and sustainability, digital transformation and in the bio-pharmaceutical and health fields.
The on-line courses – hosted by Zoom platform - will be recorded and related documentation will be provided to participants.
The LINK to the form for enrolling is https://forms.gle/hjng6jtf1UX2RAy76 (Registrations will be open until 2nd November 2023)
Those registered will receive the Zoom link to participate in the Modules of interest the day before the Module takes place. Please be aware that to participate in each Module, registration is mandatory. Effective participation in each Module for at least 75% of its duration will allow the achievement of a certificate of participation.

Prof.ssa Barbara Staniscia Prof.ssa Michela Pacifici Prof.ssa Anna Borghi Prof. Fabio Sciarrino
|
Overview on the main opportunities for research and innovation collaborative projects financed by the Horizon Europe Programme; EU R&I funding instruments for the period 2021-2027. Main topics: Structure of Horizon Europe and implementation strategy; Rules of eligibility and participation; How to identify a call for proposal; How to plan and write a successful collaborative project. Practical suggestions from professors with direct experience as scientists in charge of research projects financed by European Union, under different programs and thematic areas. The Module will include an overview on the process related to Human Resources Strategy For Researchers and the action plan implemented by Sapienza |
7/11/2023 h. 14:30-17:30
Module in English Open to other CIVIS institution PhD students and researchers |
2. Evaluation processes in EU R&I funding programmes |
Dott. Ciro Franco |
Prof. Alessandro Saggioro Prof.ssa Alessandra Della Torre |
The Course will be focused on a shift of the applicant approach from researcher's perspective to the European point of view, highlighting strengths and weaknesses of a project proposal from the evaluator point of view. More in detail, the objective is to evidence the evaluator's approach and the awareness about evaluation processes as key aspects to a successful proposal |
20/11/2023 h. 11:00-13:00
Module in English Open for Early Stage Researchers of RIS4CIVIS institutions |
Domain B. Scientific calculation tools and Big data |
||||
1. Introduction to ML/DL and to Pytorch |
|
Prof. Mauro Valorani Prof. Fabrizio Silvestri
|
The Module will include the main concepts, topics and ideas relating to Machine Learning and how they extend to Deep Learning. The session will be aimed at introducing Pytorch as the main framework that will be used during the rest of the minicourse
|
30/11/2023 h. 9:30-12:30
Module in English Open to other CIVIS institution PhD students and researchers |
2. From linear Regression to Deep Models using Neural Networks |
|
Prof. Fabrizio Silvestri |
The aim is to show, using Pytorch, how to build by the use of Pytorch a first deep learning model (namely a deep multilayer perceptron) using the same building blocks as in simpler models such as linear regression
|
1/12/2023 h. 9.30-12.30
Module in English Open to other CIVIS institution PhD students and researchers |
3. Advanced Deep Learning |
|
Prof. Fabrizio Silvestri |
In the last part of the module, a first pipeline, that will label images using deep convolutional neural networks, will be built. This will serve as the first example of what a deep learning models are capable of doing |
