Art. 15 - STUDENTS’ RIGHTS AND DUTIES

 

1.    Student Charter of Rights and Duties. The rights and duties of students are regulated by a Charter of Students' Rights that was drawn up by a special committee with student participation and approved by the Academic Senate.

2.    Student Ombudsperson. Article 6 of the Statute of Sapienza University of Rome provides for the establishment at the University level and in each Faculty of the Student Ombudsperson who has the authority and the task of intervening, including for motivated petitions submitted by students, to report dysfunctions and limitations to their rights.

The University Ombudsperson periodically meets the Faculty Ombudsperson and has the authority to consult the students' representatives in the collegiate bodies and the heads of the structures, if appropriate; the Ombudsperson reports every six months to the Rector and the Academic Senate.

3.    Rights and duties deriving from the payment of tuition fees. Payment of the first instalment of tuition fees, of any arrears due, of the stamp duty and the regional tax for the right to education entitles the student to attend lessons, practical classes and laboratories, to book exams and to receive certificates.

These rights may be exercised until the due date for payment of the second and third instalment of tuition fees and are deemed to be suspended until the payments due have been regularised.

Candidates who do not pay their tuition fees by the due dates may not book and sit the exams for the academic year 2024-2025 until their payments are regularised. Any exams taken in default of the payment of tuition fees will be suspended until the payment is regularised, such payment must take place within and no later than 10 natural and consecutive days from the date on which the first exam taken in default of payment is recorded, under penalty of cancellation of all exams taken after the deadline for payment of tuition fees.

Payments must in any case be made by June 30, 2025, the deadline for the end of the accounting year.

3.    Alias career. By Rector's Decree No. 1109 of May 5, 2023, the new Regulations for the activation and management of the alias career have been issued.

The application must be submitted to the head of your Student Affairs Office using the "Application/Alias Career" form published on the Student Forms page.
