Art. 28 - FAMILY BONUS

1.    The family bonus is a reduction in the amount of tuition fees due for those who have brothers, sisters, parents or children already enrolled at Sapienza University if they do not fall within the more favourable reduction ranges set out in Article 20. The amount of the reduction varies according to Isee:

  • with an Isee 2024 for the right to academic education of less than or equal to €40,000, each member is entitled to a 15% reduction on the annual tuition fees;

with an Isee 2024 for the right to academic education exceeding €40,000, each member is entitled to an 8% reduction on the annual tuition fees.

  1. Requirements. To be eligible for the family bonus you must:
  • Be enrolled, for the academic year 2024-2025, in a degree programme for a number of years not exceeding its normal duration*; in the event of a degree programme change/transfer, all previous years of enrolment are counted;
  • Have at least one brother, sister, parent or child enrolled at Sapienza University and in good standing with the payment of tuition fees for the academic year 2024-2025 (i.e. who has paid the first instalment on time);
  • In order to obtain the benefit, all the persons indicated must belong to the same family unit, as shown in the Dichiarazione unica sostitutiva (Dsu) submitted to obtain the Isee calculation for the right to academic education 2024;
  • If enrolled, in the academic year 2024-2025, in the second year of a bachelor's degree, single-cycle, to have obtained at least 10 ECTS by August 10, 2024; if enrolled in the academic year 2024-2025 in a year subsequent to the second year, to have obtained at least 25 ECTS between August 10, 2023 and August 10, 2024. There are no merit requirements for those enrolling in bachelor's degree programmes and for those enrolled in the first year of two-year master's degree programmes, as well as for those who enrol following a transfer from other Italian and international universities, limited to the year of enrolment in which the transfer took place.

Qualifying exams that award ECTS may be counted as exams/credits taken if registered.

In the case of differing merit situations between students, only the student in good standing will receive the reduction.

3.    Causes of exclusion. Anyone enrolled on part-time learning cannot claim the bonus (Art. 50).

4.    How to obtain the bonus. The Infostud system will calculate the bonus after payment of the first instalment for all the household members. The reduction will be effective on the second instalment, provided that the same Isee is declared for all household members.

Thanks to the systems of application cooperation with the Inps, the condition of belonging to the same household will be deducted automatically from the students' Isee declarations in the single substitutive declarations (Dsu).

* Due to a mere typo on the Board of Governors' Resolution No. 210/18 introducing the benefit, it is erroneously stated that the benefit is granted up to the first year beyond the legal duration of the programme.
