CIVIS Open Lab - FARO SAPIENZA
In line with its Outreach and Public Engagement policies, Sapienza participates in the CIVIS European Alliance in the creation of Open Labs, open and collaborative spaces where universities and society can discuss local needs and participate in the creation of joint projects, with a multidisciplinary approach aimed at developing innovative and high impact initiatives.
With the aim of promoting the ongoing and strategic commitment that our University dedicates to its social and civic reference context, Sapienza has activated its Open Lab: 'FARO SAPIENZA'.
FARO SAPIENZA is inspired by the participatory and democratic values of the "Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society" adopted by the Council of Europe in 2005.
The principles of sharing, dialogue and active citizenship promoted by the Convention offer countless opportunities for collaboration with the social context and can foster actions oriented towards inclusion, participatory democracy and social justice.
FARO SAPIENZA represents a space for academic staff, students, citizens and the community at large to build a holistic approach to the totality and plurality of cultural heritage expressions, emphasising a participatory approach to cultural heritage. It is a place where the right of access to cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, goes hand in hand with the dissemination of civic awareness and the values of solidarity, integration and social inclusion, within the shared framework of EU and European values.
FARO SAPIENZA is based at the Saperi&Co Centre and is partnered by Sapienza Musesum and Library System.
The CIVIS Open Lab - FARO SAPIENZA call for proposals has been launched in order to enhance the established Sapienza experience in the field of active promotion of cultural heritage and to give it a supranational and European dimension.
In addition to this commitment, FARO SAPIENZA is also a partner in projects coordinated by other universities in the CIVIS network.
The academic and administrative contact person for the activities of the CIVIS Open Lab Council is Professor Irene Baldriga, Delegate for Public Engagement (irene.baldriga@uniroma1.it).
