The 21st International Union for Quaternary Research Congress is in Rome
From July 14 to 20, 2023, Sapienza University of Rome will be hosting the 21st INQUA (International Union for Quaternary Research) Congress, the most important meeting of the scientific community dealing with the recent geological evolution of our planet, landscape and ecosystems with over 3,000 participants.
The Quaternary, the most recent geological period, is the one of greatest interest for research with a direct impact on society, from the study of climate change to the appearance of human being, from seismicity to the evolution of the land, from the stratigraphic structure of the plains to recent and current changes in the coastline or river courses. The Quaternary sciences go beyond the boundaries of earth sciences to include aspects of palaeoanthropology, palaeobotany, climatology and even prehistoric archaeology.
The 21st INQUA Congress is an opportunity for Rome and Italy to welcome an international community of scholars, and for the vibrant Italian scientific community working in this field to showcase their expertise and passion for Quaternary research.
Several pre and post congress field trips in Italy and abroad are also planned as part of the congress. Social channels have been activated (Ig, Fb, Twitter) @InquaRoma2023, with #INQUAROMA2023.
