ERC “PAThs” Project: the New Atlas of Research of Late Antiquity Egypt
On February 25th 2019 there will be the conference "Coptic Literature in Context. The Contexts of Coptic Literature. Late Antique Egypt in a dialogue between literature, archeology and digital humanities ". During the conference will be presented the "Digital Archaelogical Atlas of Coptic Literature", main product of the project ERC Advanced Grant "PATHS".
Il Digital Archaeological Atlas of Coptic Literature is an innovative research instrument, built on a relational database and the geographic information system (GIS) which is able to connect archeological, codicological and litterary data related to Late Antiquity Egypt.
Although it is constantly growing, it already contains a classification of the manuscript tradition and the works of the Coptic literature, the classification and description of the late antiquity archaeological sites linked to the book production and the translation of the entire corpus of titles and colophones. The atlas will also include the results of archaeometric analyzes conducted on inks and a detailed description of the ligatures of the Coptic manuscripts.
