Five Medicine Students at the Moscow Sechenov University
Five students on the 5th and 6th years of the Medicine and Surgery Masters Degree Programme, coordinated by Stefania Mardente from the Department of Experimental Medicine, participated in the School of Medical Communication held by the Moscow Sechenov University.
Thanks to a bilateral agreement between Sapienza University and the Moscow Sechenov University, for one week, five students worked and studied in an intercontinental class together with Russian colleagues and a large group of Chinese students from the Hairbin Medical School. Lessons, which addressed the relation between linguistic and humanistic competences and Medicine, focused on technical writing in English with particular attention to the presentation, and doctor-patient deontology and the role that humanitas, considered as a whole of moral and individual values, has on clinical practice.
The future Italian doctors participated actively in the many discussions, providing an important contribution in terms of quality and quantity, at all levels. They interacted with curiosity and enthusiasm with their colleagues from around the world, understanding and appreciating what they had in common and what differed, both in clinical practice and in daily life. The friendships started with other students at Sechenov University represent an added value to their eudcaitonal experience that may well inspire the future of this project.
