On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 12.00 noon, room A1 of the Department of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Sciences will be hosting the opening session of the English single-cycle degree programme in Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics.

 

The six-year programme, established this year, is delivered entirely in English, in line with Sapienza's international vocation.

 

The study plan provides at least 5000 hours of theoretical and practical educational activities. It guarantees the students continuous training in clinical services of high care value, with the possibility of improving one's comprehensive and multidisciplinary professional skills. 

The first year is held jointly with Sapienza's Medicine and Surgery degree programme. In the sixth year, dedicated almost exclusively to clinical and problem-solving activities, the lecturers assess the effectiveness of the training by verifying the actual achievement of clinical and communication skills and expertise.

Teaching activities take place in the Department of Oral and Maxillo-Facial Sciences, which offers modern classrooms, laboratories and a simulation room. Professional teaching takes place in the departments of the Dental Clinic and the George Eastman Hospital (DAI Head and Neck, Policlinico Umberto I general hospital).

Numerous scientific collaborations with lecturers from other EU countries and other centres of excellence in dentistry from around the world will be offered to our students.

The programme presents many opportunities for international experiences (Erasmus +, internships) and an introduction to the world of work to acquire the correct professional management skills. Graduates in Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics have opportunities for subsequent outlets in further education (Specialisation schools, PhDs, Advanced Professional Courses, Advanced Training Courses, etc.) and in public and private professional practice in Italy and abroad.

 

The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Domenico Alvaro, the Department of Oral and Maxillo-Facial Sciences Director, Umberto Romeo and Programme Coordinator, Livia Ottolenghi, will attend the ceremony. The Dean of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM), William Victor Giannobile, will deliver the inaugural lecture, Future of Personalised Medicine in Dentistry.
