Grief for Serena and Hesam

On May 28, in front of the Minerva, friends, fellow students, professors, and colleagues remembered Serena Cosentino and Mohammadreza Shahisavandi, the two young people from Sapienza who lost their lives in the tragedy of the Stresa-Mottarone cable car. Rectress Antonella Polimeni expressed her deepest together with the entire university community, the dean of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering Antonio D'Andrea and the Director General Simonetta Ranalli

Together with the entire Sapienza community, Rectress Antonella Polimeni participates with deep sorrow in the death of Serena Cosentino and Mohammadreza Shahisavandi, the two fiancées who lost their lives in the tragedy of the Stresa-Mottarone cable car. The Rectress expresses her deepest sympathy to the families and friends of these two passionate and committed young people.

Serena Cosentino graduated with honours from Sapienza University in 2019, in Environmental Monitoring and Redevelopment, after a brilliant career, also enriched by some experiences as a scholarship holder in the Department of Environmental Biology; a very motivated girl who a few days ago took up service as a scholarship holder at the IRSA-CNR Verbania office, crowning her dream of being able to work amid nature and for the environment.

Mohammadreza Shahisavandi was enrolled in a master's degree course in Civil Engineering, specialising in geotechnics, completing his dissertation, and graduating in July. He was working to support his studies and had also been a scholarship holder, working at the Hello info point for international students, always friendly and welcoming, with his contagious smile and positive attitude in facing every moment of life.
