King Narseh Gallery inaugurated
Sunday, October 24, the new King Narseh Gallery at the Slemani Museum, dedicated to the sculptures of the Sasanian ruler Narseh from the Paikuli site, was inaugurated.
The new room was created as part of the Italian Archaeological Mission to Iraqi Kurdistan (Maiki), led by Professor Carlo Cereti of the Department of Ancient World Studies with the support of the Sulaymaniyah Directorate of Antiquities, Slemani Museum, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. In June 2019, thanks to Sapienza and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, a first room (Paikuli Gallery) dedicated to the Narseh inscription was set up.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of KRG (Kurdistan Region Government) institutions and members of the Italian diplomatic representation in Iraq.
The Sulaymaniyah Museum is an archaeological museum located in Sulaymaniyah, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
