Music and theatre against the mafia
On Friday, March 21, in the Rectorate building's Aula Magna, to mark National Day of Memory and Commitment in remembrance of the victims of the Mafia, Sapienza will strongly reaffirm the importance of concrete social and political action in the fight against organised crime. The fight against the Mafia cannot indeed be limited to the dimension of criminal law, but must extend to the promotion of a culture of legality, the fight against privileges and the defence of public ethics.
Programme: Aspide: Gomorra in Veneto, a theatrical performance that reconstructs a criminal organisation's modus operandi in a context that emphasises the code of silence and intimidation, inviting us to reflect on the reality of organised crime and its roots in our territory. This will be followed by a concert by the children's and youth orchestra Musica libera tutti of Scampia, founded in 2011 as a neighbourhood educational and cultural project, which is a tangible example of how music can be a tool for social redemption.
The event will be introduced by academic representatives and will include a speech by Massimo Brutti, who will focus on the fight against crime and the importance of a culture of legality.
The programme will be offered to Lazio secondary schools in the morning, whereas the scheduled afternoon performances have been cancelled.
