A New European Civic University

Eight leading European universities have joined forces to create a new European Civic University where students, professors, researchers and staff will be able to collaborate as freely as at their home university.

Sapienza University, University of Aix Marseille (France), National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greek), University of Bucharest (Romania), Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain), Stockholms Universitet (Sweden) and Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (Germany) have united their competences and resources to create a new European Civic University.

This university alliance will bring together 384,000 students and 55,000 academic and administrative staff as a key tool to further foster the process of European integration. The project will address mobility and multilingualism, and aims to create a network across Europe.

The European Civic University will promote European values, culture and citizenship amongst new generations of studentsand kick off a new cooperation and innovative actions, independent from all barriers, languages and academic disciplines. The university will act both globally and locally, addressing social, economic and environmental issues through the involvement of local socio-economic and cultural players.
