
Remembering Gaetano Calabrò
Rector Antonella Polimeni, on behalf of herself and the entire Sapienza community, expresses her deep condolences on the death of Gaetano Calabrò, Professor Emeritus of History of Political Thought, who has died aged 100.
A scholar of philosophy and the history of political thought, Calabrò devoted a long and distinguished career to research and teaching, helping to educate generations of students and young scholars. He joined Sapienza in 1985 and, from 1990, held the Chair of History of Political Thought. He also served as Head of the Department of Political Studies for two three-year terms, distinguished by his sustained commitment to research and teaching.
His studies, including his work on Hegel, Vico, Croce, Capograssi and Omodeo, made an important contribution to scholarship on contemporary political history and thought.
The university community remembers with gratitude his contribution as a scholar, lecturer and mentor, as well as his deep commitment to educating and supporting young people.
