Sapienza among the winners of the 2018-2020 Prima H2020 Call
The Karma project, in which Sapienza participates, is one of the winners of the 2018 call for the Prima European program. The project, dedicated to underground water resources in Mediterranean karst aquifers, has obtained a loan of over 1.5 million euros that will be used in the next three years by seven partners distributed between Germany, France, Spain, Tunisia and Lebanon, beyond Italy, to assess the resilience and vulnerability of the groundwater of various karst massifs, including the Gran Sasso, chosen as the sample area of the Italian territory. The Sapienza research unit will be directed by Marco Petitta of the Department of Earth Sciences, who coordinated the recently completed European project H2020 Kindra.
Almost 400 projects participated in the call, of which 93 were admitted to the second evaluation phase and 18 were winners. Among the selected projects, 15 involve Italian partners, as in the case of the Karma project to which La Sapienza belongs.
The winners of the 2018 Call were announced last December 13 at the Miur during the info-day of the European program Prima, dedicated to the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area, on the fundamental theme of the relationship among Water, Food and Agriculture, in the presence of Giuseppe Valditara, head of the Department for higher education and research of the Miur and Angelo Riccaboni president of the Prima Foundation.
