Sapienza and San Lorenzo, between oral history and visual memory

Sapienza Museum of Contemporary Art –Mlac, to celebrate the relationship between our university and the neighbourhood that hosts it, San Lorenzo, will be holding two online events on February 17 and 24, 2021, as part of its third mission activities.

The Sapienza's Museum of Contemporary Art –Mlac, promotes, in collaboration with Isfci - Institute of Photography and under the patronage of the Municipio Roma II, the third mission event entitled "L'università Sapienza e il Quartiere San Lorenzo, tra storia orale e memoria visiva" (Sapienza University and the San Lorenzo neighbourhood, between oral history and visual memory).

The project highlights the relationship between Sapienza University and the San Lorenzo neighbourhood, from the main campus building in 1935 to the present day.

It aims to reconstruct the history of this relationship through oral testimonies, visual sources and photographic workshops carried out by both Sapienza and ISFCI students; collective memory and cultural identity, sense of belonging to the territory and active citizenship, experiments with oral history and photography as tools for visual awareness, narration and creativity will be the main ingredients of this original event.
