Sapienza Museums win a cooperation agreement with Mozambique for Education for Sustainability
In 2021, Sapienza Museums won a call issued by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development, funded with €4,250,000, for museum, dissemination and educational activities on sustainability in Mozambique. The overall objective is to provide Mozambique with tools to promote the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and natural resources by improving the structures and procedures of the Maputos Natural History Museum (Nhm) and the Inhacas Marine Biological Station (EBMI). In addition, the project plans to establish the Mozambique Biodiversity Conservation Centre, following the definition of the national biodiversity vision. Nhm and Ebmi strengthen their role in educating and informing the public about the importance of biodiversity, its conservation and the involvement of local communities in the sustainable use of natural resources, as well as the promotion of ecotourism in the country and its protected areas.
On March 3, 2022, the project called Conservation and Renovation for Biodiversity in Mozambique (COREBIOM), which refers to the line of action Recursos, Inovação e Desenvolvimento para as áreas de conservação - RINO, was presented at a launch conference held in Maputo.
