Sapienza Promotes a Healthier Earth

Sapienza University signed the “A Call for Clinicians to Act on Planetary Health,” the appeal, which was published on Lancet, on April 19, to promote the scientific community’s commitment for Planet Earth

For Earth Day on April 22, Lancet, one of the most prestigious and long-standing medical journals, published an article entitled “A Call for Clinicians to Act on Planetary Health” revealing the unprecedented support of the scientific community for a healthier Planet.

The initiative, which has already been joined by 29 medical associations and international health organizations, including Sapienza University, aims to raise awareness on the impact that global environmental change has on human health by mobilizing medical communities. The call to action aims to influence doctors, nurses and other health professionals to help them understand the effects of global environmental change on patients and increase education and information available on this issue.

The call is led by the Planetary Health Alliance, a consortium of universities, non-governmental organisations and other partners to promote actions that will raise awareness on the intrinsic relations between global environmental conditions and public health.
