Sapienza ReStart4Smart Team amongst Italian top-100 in the Future of Construction Work
The ReStart4Smart Project for a domotic house developed by a group of students at Sapienza University was included in the recent Report published by the renowned Fondazione Symbola-Fassa Bortolo “One Hundred Italian Stories to Rebuild the Future” that was presented at the Milan Triennale on January 17.
The report lists the many groups working to develop sustainable construction and building methods, ranging from project development to materials and from facilities to integrated services. In this context, green technology provides not only an aesthetic value, but also becomes an integral part of the structure and energetic savings.
Team ReStart4Smart, coordinated by Marco Casini, Professor of Technological Engineering at the Department of Architecture and Design, developed a 160 square meter construction that is fully independent in terms of energy consumption by exploiting solar energy. The objective is to face new challenges posed by contemporary society that require a new way of developing, building, managing and modernizing our buildings, as well as aiming to produce residential buildings with zero energetic impact.
The project, which was the only one presented by an Italian university team in the finals, competed in the Dubai 2018 Solar Decathlon.
