Sapienza Signs Agreement for Certification of Latin
On Friday, March 15, the Rector signed a memorandum of understanding with the Lazio Regional School Office, the Sapienza Department of Classics and the University Conference for Latin Studies (CUSL) for the organisation of Latin language certifications for high school students in Lazio.
The signature of the MoU followed the presentation of the initiative to professors on October 25, 2018. The University Conference for Latin Studies began issuing Latin certifications in 2012 with the aim of verifying and certifying linguistic competences in Latin on the same model used for foreign languages. CUSL also signed MoUs with Regional School Offices in Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont, Sicily, Ferrara and with the Autonomous Province of Trento and certifications are now issued to students who pass the tests.
Gildo De Angelis, Director General of the Lazio School Office, and Giorgio Piras, Director of the Sapienza Department of Classics, were present at the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding.
