As part of a visit to Italy, Bonginkosi Emmanuel Nzimande, South African Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, was a guest of Sapienza University on November 18, 2019. The event at the Sapienza Academic Senate was the perfect opportunity to evaluate academic and research collaborations between universities and industry in the field of technological transfer and integrated systems.

The meeting opened with a welcome by Rector Eugenio Gaudio, who was followed by the South African Minister. The mutual recognition of university titles amongst universities was one of the issues addressed in the meeting.

Besides members from the South African Embassy, the meeting was also attended by entrepreneurs and representatives of agencies that collaborate with Sapienza University and with the Embassy of South Africa.

Blade Nzimande was Minister of Education and Training in South Africa from 2014 to 2017, before returning to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology in May 2019.
