Theatron at the FAcT Festival 2019

On Thursday, June 13, Theatron – Ancient Theatre at Sapienza will perform Aeschylus’ “The Libation Bearers” at the Sant’Andrea Theatre in Pisa as part of the second edition of FAcT 2019, the Festival of Academic Theatre organized by the “Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa”

On Thursday, June 13, at 9:00 pm, Theatron – Ancient Theatre at Sapienza will perform Aeschylus’ “The Libation Bearers” at the Sant’Andrea Theatre in Pisa as part of the second edition of FAcT 2019, the Festival of Academic Theatre organized by the “Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa”

FAcT, which received the presidential medal this year, is the first theatre festival dedicated to European and Italian university groups. It is held in the heart of the ancient Tuscan university city. For three days, students from around the world will pursue creativity, experimentation and new friendships that will make Pisa the centre of a vast cultural network. 

Project Theatron is coordinated by Anna Maria Belardinelli, Professor of Classic Philology at Sapienza University in Rome. Adriano Evangelisti is the Artistic Director.

For 2019, the project oversaw the staging of the Aeschylus Eumenides, which will be presented on 16 and 17 July in the courtyard of the Mathematics building, on the occasion of Doors open at Sapienza.

As part of the festival in Pisa, the theatrical university group also performed, presenting a performance taken from the Tricks show, at the end of the conference "The general states of university theater". The representation Tricks - The fragile mechanism of comedy is born from the training and theatrical production laboratory realized within the FUS-Mibac 2018-2020 project, directed by Stefano Locatelli of the Department of History, Anthropology, Religions, Art, Entertainment. The laboratory has seen students engaged in the study of the fundamental techniques of contemporary comedy in comedy.

The FAcT, which this year received the medal of the President of the Republic, is the first theater show dedicated to Italian and European university groups, hosted in the heart of an ancient university city: three days of creativity, experimentation and friendship for students from all over the world, which will make Pisa the center of a wide cultural network.
