MORPHOGENESIS AND TISSUE ENGINEERING
Per i criteri di valutazione riferirsi a quelli specificati nel bando.
This Ph.D. program in Morphogenesis and Tissue Engineering is part of the School of Doctorate in Biology and Molecular Medicine. The overall aim of the Ph.D. program is to provide cultural, analytical and methodological tools to perform high level-, basic- or translational- or applied-, research in the biomedical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological fields. In particular, the research interests are distributed in three main curricula: 1) for the Curriculum in Morphogenetic and Cytological Sciences, the study and characterization of the mechanisms of tissue development, differentiation and homeostasis, the modulation of the functional activity of the cell, the biological properties of stem cells and the bases of regenerative medicine, the tissue engineering for basic and pre-clinical research; 2) for the Curriculum in Cellular Sciences and Technologies, the regulation of the cell cycle and apoptosis, the biology of spermatogonial stem cells, with the aim of potential use in medical therapy, for the treatment and prevention of infertility and germ cell tumors, the tissue homeostasis and neoplastic transformation; 3) for the Curriculum in Cellular and Tissue Biophysics, the techniques of dynamic modeling of biosystems, structural and computational biology, the use of brain computer interfaces, the study of cortical activity during cognitive tasks in humans, the development and validation of nanotechnologies for the delivery of drugs and nucleic acids in vitro and in vivo, the study of the interactions between nanomaterials and fluids biological technologies for the development of tumors for the early diagnosis of tumors. For this purpose, the courses are aimed to teach the students not only notions (rapidly changing and evolving) but also: a) to acquire evaluation criteria to innovatively pinpoint unresolved issues, in specific fields; b) to design experimental strategies which address these issues. The educational aims of the Ph.D. program are developed through research guidelines regarding the study The ultimate goal is to provide students with rigorous and in-depth scientific training and the tools to become successful and independent researchers. Skills with PhD completion, including project management, analytical and communication skills, will enable PhD students to pursue a career in academia, industry, or healthcare.
