The Ph.D. program is designed to offer a solid foundation and updated knowledge on main topics concerning language and how it works across time and space. It also strongly emphasizes the enhancement of critical thinking and challenges conventional thinking in pursuit of original ideas and production in the chosen area. The Ph.D. program is by its nature interdisciplinary, in so much as Linguistics interfaces with different fields of the humanities such as history, geography, literary criticism, philosophy, language education, articulatory and acoustic phonetics, speech experimental processing. It is open to internationalization and to more innovative research domains and it is designed to be the intellectual destination that will draw inspired Italian graduate students and international students from countries intending to deepen their scientific background and their training to teach Italian as a language other than their first one. The Sapienza-Roma Tre joint program in Linguistics is ever more likely to become a leader not only in our region and country but also within the international context. The well known reputation of the academic components and the outstanding scientific achievements of the two converging academic bodies give allow for predicting that the prospective Ph.D. program will yield very positive results. The objectives for each of the curricula reflect the specific characteristics of the scholars who have joined the Ph.D. program. Due to their ranking is in the top positions in Italian and International Linguistics, among the Ph.D. faculty there are Presidents of Scientific societies, members to the Accademia dei Lincei and foreign research institutions, referees for National Qualifying Board Examinations. These scholars have not only gained an excellent reputation for their scientific accomplishments, they have also committed themselves to perform managerial duties required for an efficient organization of our institutions. The positions include Coordinators of Curricula and a former Vice Chancellor and Head of The University Affairs in the Ministry of Education and University.
