The National PhD in Peace Studies aims at promoting interdisciplinary and transversal higher education and research pathways capable of providing innovative perspectives. The National PhD in Peace Studies develops a field of study that will significantly impact a society dealing with an ever-changing natural and man-made environment.
PhDs will be able to analyze the dynamics of conflict, peace, reconciliation, and mediation with an interdisciplinary approach. In a long-term diachronic perspective and in the interaction between tradition and innovation, themes such as encounter, recognition, conflict, coexistence, and respect among cultural, social, and religious diversities, the protection of natural and human environment, and the preservation of places constitute a central axis of the training. The course aims at providing doctoral students with the necessary research skills to independently build and develop their scientific and professional profile while collaborating with teaching staff and supervisors.
The National PhD in Peace Studies intends to train qualified experts capable of: 1) operating in the academic field and at all levels of education with competences, knowledge and skills related to peace issues, from a global and interdisciplinary perspective; 2) interacting with organizations, institutions, public administrations and intergovernmental bodies, as well as with social, corporate and community structures at local, national and supranational levels, to contribute to the development of inclusive, peaceful, sustainable policies; 3) operating in the field of research on peace and conflict issues, as well as elaborate and implement training, research, and civic engagement projects at national and international level.
The National PhD in Peace Studies in Peace Studies intends to enable PhD and postdoctoral students to develop original research that contributes to the growth of various academic and non-academic fields from the perspective of the dynamics of peace in their multiple declinations. Not only theoretical and methodological aspects, but also good practices and practical outcomes on a local, national, transnational and global scale ample space will be given. The interdisciplinary vocation of the National PhD in Peace Studies encourages a research commitment in every field of study, fostering interaction between skills and innovative areas of specialization, such as gender studies, ICT and AI.
