Accident insurance

INSURANCE COVER - DESCRIPTION

For insured parties belonging to policy categories 1-2-3: cover is provided for accidents sustained in the exercise of all university activities meaning by this all the typical activities connected with the pursuit of studies, both with the Policyholder and with third parties, in Italy and abroad.

Accidents sustained by the insured party during transfers between university sites, between departments, to other universities and institutes, facilities other than university facilities such as laboratories, factories, study centres, etc. are also included, even outside the strict university context, provided that such journeys are made for reasons of study or necessity and recognised by the Policyholder.

The guarantee is intended to cover injuries sustained by the insured party for all inherent activities, such as, by way of example but not limited to: at laboratories, including those outside the university, but recognised by the Policyholder- visits to companies - open days – internships – Master’s degrees - various qualifications - study trips - during the performance of educational, training and cultural, recreational, sports and welfare activities and in any case for all accidents connected to participation in any university, pre-university or post-graduation activity.

Travel risk

The cover includes commuting risk, i.e. accidents that occur as a result of and/or during all journeys and transfers, by any means of transport and also on foot, to and from the home and/or dwelling, even if occasional, of the insured party to the place of study and/or work, or any other place where the insurant goes to carry out his/her university activities, duties or assignments on behalf of the Policyholder, including "on call", it being understood that the cover shall operate over the compulsory cover required by law and of the provisions for third-party liability, where both are provided for and operative. The travel risk does not apply to the student category (category 1) except for trainees and nursery school children (category 8).

Medical re-entry

The cover is extended to the reimbursement, up to the limit of €5,000.00, of expenses incurred by the insured party for the return journey, even if anticipated or delayed, in the event of an accident that affects the insured party during a mission, excursion or trip arranged by the Policyholder directly or indirectly, and that makes it necessary to transport the insured party by any means deemed suitable to an equipped hospital in Italy.

Repatriation of remains

In the event of the death of the insured party abroad, following an event that is indemnifiable under the policy, the Insurance Company shall reimburse the beneficiaries identifiable under the policy, the expenses sustained for the repatriation of the remains, up to a maximum of €10,000.00.

For categories 2-3-5-6 specified below, insurance coverage only operates subject to the activation request to the Unit and Manager in charge and entails the payment of the relevant insurance premium according to the category chosen.

1	By way of example but not limited to: Sapienza students, including those “fuoricorso”, enrolled on old system degree programmes (1st, 2nd, 3rd level), part-time students, students enrolled on Advanced Professional Courses (Master in Italian) of any level, University Diploma, single-cycle specialisation courses (5 years or more), Erasmus students, postgraduate trainees also abroad, interns, scholarship holders, trainees, postgraduate students, PhD students, scholarship recipients also abroad, students admitted with reservations but not enrolled, students collaborating as tutors (ex Art. 13 of Law 341/90). Incoming students, students from other universities, including international ones, graduates and PhD students attending one or more courses, within the framework of national and EU and non-EU training programmes/projects, Erasmus and similar, post-graduate traineeships, doctorates, Advanced Professional Courses (Master in Italian), internships, scholarships of any type, collaboration grants, etc. PREMIUM PER INDIVIDUAL INSURED PERSON € 1.00
2	By way of example but not limited to: emeritus professors, senior professors, senior researchers, etc., authorised by the institution to organise or participate in educational training and research activities, including abroad. (NON-EMPLOYEES). PREMIUM PER INDIVIDUAL INSURED PERSON € 50.00
3	By way of example but not limited to: volunteers, staff, laboratory collaborators, consultants, training experts, lecturers, technicians, scientific researchers, etc., any other subject that Sapienza employs to carry out teaching/training activities and uncharacteristic workers, occasional workers employed in any capacity by the institution (NOT IN CATEGORY 2).
