Call for solidarity in research and education
Call for Proposals: Solidarity in Research and Education 2026 (in Italian) to fund visiting professors who are in countries at risk or facing economic or social crises, for joint research and/or teaching activities.
Sapienza has allocated 252.000 euros for the new call, which will fund 28 grants of 9,000 euros each for a period of 90 days.
Visiting Professors invited by the applicants must be lecturers, researchers or experts of proven scientific standing, affiliated – on pain of exclusion – with a university, institution or research body based in one of the MAECI priority countries listed in the call for applications.
By Resolution No. 61 of 9 April 2026, the Academic Senate decided that “…in considerazione dell’elevata criticità del contesto internazionale, l’Iran è incluso tra i Paesi eleggibili e prioritari del Medio Oriente (in view of the highly critical nature of the international situation, Iran is included among the eligible and priority countries in West Asia)”.
46.4% of the grants available, amounting to €117,000.00 and comprising 13 grants, will be reserved for researchers from institutions based in the countries listed in the ‘Medio Oriente’ section of the table included in the call for applications.
Of the 13 scholarships allocated to West Asia, 7 will be reserved for scholars from Palestine.
Any unallocated grants will be awarded to other countries in West Asia.
