Co-financing Summer and Winter Schools

Co-finanziamento di Ateneo per l'internazionalizzazione, erogato sulla base del Regolamento per i Corsi intensivi

The regulation on master courses, advanced training courses, training courses, intensive courses, issued with Rector's Decree n. 915/2018, on 26 March 2018 and in force starting from the 2018-2019 academic year, provides, in article 27 paragraph 4, that "intensive courses (Summer / Winter School) can be co-financed with funds specifically allocated on University Budget in order to encourage internationalization". With a subsequent resolution of the Board of Directors no. 451/2018, the requirements for the assignment of co-financing were approved, then supplemented by resolution of the same body no. 236/2019

How to access co-financing

In order to be eligible for co-financing, the Summer or Winter School must meet at least 3 of the following requirements:

a) foreign language of the Summer / Winter Schools (preferably English);

b) position of excellence of the disciplines proposed by the course in the major international rankings by subject;

c) multidisciplinary nature of the training program;

d) international teaching staff for at least 50%;

e) destination of the course to international users.

Submitting applications

Requests for co-financing, signed by the Directors of the intensive courses and countersigned by the Directors of the relevant Departments, must be submitted, via certified email (PEC), to the International Office:

by March 31 (for Summer Schools)

by October 31 (for the Winter Schools)

of each year.

Applications must be accompanied by:

1. provision establishing the course (Rector's decree + study plan), activated as per the Regulations at the competent University Masters and support for the School of Advanced Studies Unit;

2. a specific report illustrating the purposes, the international requirements, and the destination of the co-financing requested, which can be granted only if it is intended to cover expenses not sustainable with the course registration fees alone.

With resolution no. 236/2019 of the Board of Directors, the discipline was supplemented by introducing a limitation to the eligibility for co-financing of the same Summer School of a maximum of three years in order to guarantee opportunities for access to co-financing to as many applicants as possible. This limit also guarantees the principle of self-financing enshrined in the Regulation in question, in compliance with the limits imposed by the allocations approved annually by the Board of Directors.

Amounts, purposes, and reporting of the co-financing

The amount of the co-financing will be € 1,000.00 for each ECTS awarded, up to a maximum of € 5,000.00.

Eligible expenses must be exclusively intended for:

• contracts for foreign teachers for the coverage of some courses (in compliance with the relevant regulations);

• scholarships for participating students.

Co-financing, if approved, is transferred to the relevant Departments.

Within 60 days of the end of the course, the Director of the intensive course must send to the International Office a detailed report on the use of the funds in describing the expenses incurred, accompanied by the accounting statement signed by the Chief Administrative Officer of the Department (RAD) of reference. Any unused funds must be returned to the International Office.
